Lab tour
Drilling Simulation Laboratory
Drilling Simulation laboratory was equipped recently in 2019. Drilling Systems’ advanced simulators provide realistic and immersive learning environments that emulate drilling, cementing operation well control and well intervention in real-time.

The laboratory of rock mechanics
The laboratory of rock mechanics was equipped in 2017 and includes laboratory equipment for the preparation and testing of rock cores, erosion resistance, abrasiveness and firmness. Complete equipping with a core drilling machine planned to be in 2018, as well as purchasing the Servo-hydraulic testing machine for rocks for triaxial compression up to 4500 kN.

The laboratory of mineral processing
The laboratory of mineral processing was equipped in 2017 and includes laboratory equipment for conducting classes and research on fragmentation, sieving, flotation and magnetic separation of rock samples.

Mine Ventilation Laboratory
Ventilation laboratory was equipped in 2018. Ventilation is an important aspect of the operation of underground mines, providing miners with fresh air when diluting or removing hazardous from mine workings. Studying the basics of the ventilation system, the rules and principles of design, mining students get practical experience through the use of laboratory installation of mine ventilation.

Computer Laboratory
The computer laboratory of the School of Mining and Geosciences allows students to use various software programs such as VentSim, Petrel, Eclipse, Pipesim, Micromine, Datamine, Rocscience, FLAC3D, MAP3D, ISATIS and Techlog.

Drilling Fluids Laboratory
Drilling fluids laboratory was equipped with the latest measuring and test equipment to determine basic properties and characteristics of drilling fluids by conducting a number of tests that are standardized according to API.

Fluid Characterization Laboratory
Fluid Characterization laboratory was designed to analyze reservoir fluids and determine its properties and behavior under different temperature and pressure conditions.

Conventional Core Analysis Laboratory
Conventional core analysis laboratory has a range of equipment to provide a direct measurement of the reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, capillary pressure and saturation. These equipment are capable to test full size and plug size core samples.

Thin Section Laboratory
Thin section laboratory was equipped with the complete range of equipment to produce high-quality polished thin sections from all type of geological materials and provide petrographic studies of thin sections for the rock and mineralogy classification.

Laboratory of Mineralogy and Petrography
Laboratory of mineralogy and petrography is designed to study the qualitative and quantitative properties of rock and minerals with different instrument and equipment such as Polarizing Microscopes
