  • Step 1. Create your Personal account
    • Go to admissions.nu.edu.kz portal, press the «Sign up» button and fill out the required information in English. Please select the program during choosing the Academic level.
    • After completing the application, confirm it by clicking on the link sent to your email.
    • Be sure to read the Instructions about the application procedure given in your Personal account.
  • Step 2. Complete your Application Form and attach required documents
    • In the «My Application Forms» section of your Personal account, open the link for Step 1. Fill out the Application Form that includes a Consent form for personal data processing. Make sure you have entered all the required information in the correct manner and press the «Upload» button.
    • Afterwards, in the same section of your Personal account, proceed to Step 2 and upload the required documents. The format of the required documents is specified in the Personal account.
    • Upload a photo (3*4) for documents to the «Profile» section in your Personal account.
  • Step 3. Pay the application fee and finish the registration process
    To finalize the application process, please click on the "PAY AND SUBMIT APPLICATION" button on your Personal account under the "My Application Forms" section. The application fee shall be paid online through the payment options available in the Personal account. The use of other payment methods for the application fee is not acceptable.

    BSc
    The application fee is 10 000 tenge. The application fee is increased 3 times from the established amount when paid within the last two weeks before the first officially approved deadline and during the extension period for accepting applications for participation in the admission process (30 000 tenge). The application fee is non-refundable, irrespective of the application outcome or payment errors.

    MSc
    The application fee is 15 000 tenge. The application fee is increased 3 times when paid within the last two weeks before the first approved deadline and during the extension period for accepting applications for participation in the admission process. The application fee is non-refundable, irrespective of the application outcome or payment errors.

    PhD
    You may apply for up to 2 Master's or PhD programs but if accepted into both, you must choose one.
    The regular application fee is 15 000 tenge, and the late application fee is 45 000 tenge. The late application period is considered to be the last two weeks before the initially established application deadline. The application fee is non-refundable, regardless of the application outcome or any payment errors.

    After submitting the online application, an applicant will not be able to make changes in the actions described in Step 2.
    The Admissions Department will check your application and contact you if there is an issue with the application or specify if some documents are missing and deadlines to submit them. Incomplete or incorrect (uncorrected) applications will not be considered in the competition.
  • Step 4. Provide results of IELTS/TOEFL/GRE/GMAT
    To provide your IELTS/TOEFL/GRE/GMAT certificates, follow these steps:
    • Electronic Submission: Send the electronic results of your valid IELTS/TOEFL/GRE/GMAT certificates directly to NU by the Test Administrator.
    • Uploading IELTS/TOEFL Results: Upload a scanned copy of your IELTS/TOEFL certificate and enter its unique number in the “Upload IELTS/TOEFL results” section of your Personal account. You can upload multiple certificates, but only the most recent one will be considered.
    • Uploading GRE/GMAT Results: Upload a scanned copy of your GRE/GMAT certificate in the “My Application Forms” section (Step 2) when submitting your documents (if required).

    Take care when entering information regarding codes for test certificate submission via the Test Administrator or the Test Center. See below:
    • Code for IELTS: NU
    • Code for TOEFL iBT: 6762
    • Code for GRE: 6496
    • Code for GMAT: H6m-R7-93

    Important Notes:
    • NU is not responsible for submitting your test results. You must contact the Test Administrator (Test Center) independently to send your certificate, which takes at least 7-10 working days.
    • Results received after the deadline will not be considered.
    • All certificates must be valid at the time of application submission.
    • Detailed instructions for submitting IELTS/TOEFL certificates are available in your Personal account.
    • IELTS Online, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, and TOEFL PDT results are not accepted.
    • Video instructions on how to upload your IELTS/TOEFL results can be found here.

    You may be exempt from providing IELTS/TOEFL if:
    • You earned a degree in a country where English is the official language.
    • Your undergraduate or graduate degree was taught in English (confirming document required).
    • You are a graduate of NU.
  • Further steps
    BSc
    • Please check your email 1-2 weeks before the NUET exam – the information about the upcoming exam date, time and venue along with Exam Rules will be sent there.
    • Please keep in mind that sometimes letters from the University may go to the spam box.
    MSc
    • After submission of the online Application Form, an automatic email notification will be sent to your referees with a request to submit a recommendation letter to NU in accordance with the provided online form. Detailed Instruction on providing recommendation letters is available in the Personal account.
    • Check your email for notifications from NU and your Personal account to stay informed about the status of your application. ​​Please keep in mind that sometimes letters from the University may go to the spam box.
    • Participate in the interview with the Admissions Committee in case of being invited. Interviews are conducted in English.
    PhD
    • After you submit your online application form, an automatic email will be sent to your referees, asking them to submit a recommendation letter using the provided online form. Detailed instructions on how to submit recommendation letters are available in your Personal account.
    • Regularly check your email and Personal account for updates about your application status, and remember to check your spam folder, as emails from the University may end up there.
    • If invited, attend the interview with the Admissions Committee, which will be conducted in English.
    • If you have any issues with the application, email phd_admissions@nu.edu.kz with a detailed description of the problem, your IIN (for citizens of Kazakhstan) and your Applicant ID number.

Provision of SAT/ACT results for other categories (Undergraduate programs only and International SAT/ACT appicants for NUFYP): April 3, 2025 (11:59 p.m. Astana time). The latest SAT exam date that will be accepted March 8, 2025, ACT exam date February 8, 2025.
Full Tuition Based applicants (NUFYP and Undergraduate programs): October 7 - June 12, 2025 (2 p.m. Astana time).

Provision of IELTS/TOEFL results for Full Tuition Based applicants (NUFYP and Undergraduate programs) - June 19, 2025 (11:59 p.m. Astana time).

Test results are mandatory to sent to the University address through the test administrator, using the NU Institutional Code:
  • NU, Admissions Department (via IELTS TRF Verification Service) - for IELTS
  • 6762 - for TOEFL iBT

NUET entrance exam: February- March, 2025

Online application deadlines for Masters programs:
For all types of grants: the application deadline is January 23, 2025, 2 P.M. (Astana time) for international applicants and citizens of Kazakhstan.
For full tuition fee-paying category:
  • International applicants: available until March 17, 2025, 2 P.M. (Astana time).
  • Citizens of Kazakhstan: available until June 25, 2025, 2 P.M. (Astana time).
Deadline for submission of IELTS/TOEFL, GRE/GMAT certificates:
For all types of grants: the application deadline is February 3, 2025, 11:59 P.M. (Astana time) for international applicants and citizens of Kazakhstan.
For full tuition fee-paying category:
  • International applicants: March 31, 2025, 11:59 P.M. (Astana time).
  • Citizens of Kazakhstan: July 4, 2025, 11:59 P.M. (Astana time).

Online application deadlines:
  • for the citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan - April 21, 2025, inclusive ( 2 pm Astana time);
  • for international applicants - March 03, 2025, inclusive (2 pm Astana time).
Fees and Funding
NU strives to attract the most talented and motivated students from around the world. The university offers a variety of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs across different fields of study.

The tuition fee for one academic year:
Undergraduate programs
$15 000
Master's degree programs
$16 000
Doctoral programs
$23 500
*Settlements with residents of Kazakhstan are conducted in the national currency at the exchange rate of one US dollar as determined by the University.

Tuition-based admission is available to applicants who meet all requirements. Annually, NU determines the quota for tuition-based programs.
Financial aid options
Reduced tuition is available to Kazakhstan citizens in the socially vulnerable categories, including:
  • Orphaned students or children left without the care of one or both parents, under 29 years of age, who lost their parents before reaching 18.
  • Students from large families with four or more co-residing siblings or half-siblings under the age of 23.
  • Students with disabilities (1st, 2nd, or 3rd disability group).
  • Students with one or both parents having a disability (1st, 2nd, or 3rd disability group).
For students in this category, the tuition fee across the Foundation, Bachelor's, and Master's programs ranges from $3,000 to $4,000 per academic year.
For employees of state enterprises and government agencies in Kazakhstan wishing to study in master's degree programs, the tuition fee is $8,000 per academic year.
Students who make a one-time advance payment of 100% of the tuition fee for one academic year, or the full amount specified in the Tuition Agreement, receive an additional 5% discount.
