SMG PhD Candidate Reza Khoramian Wins Runner-Up at NU 3MT® 2025

On September 17, 2025, during Nazarbayev University’s Annual Research Conference, Reza Khoramian, a PhD candidate at the School of Mining and Geosciences (SMG), was named Runner-Up (2nd Place) in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition Finale, receiving a prize of 250,000 KZT.

In a compelling three-minute presentation, Reza showcased the social and scientific significance of improving CO₂ storage security and trapping enhancement through geochemical reactions—work that supports global climate action and net-zero policies.

Reza expressed gratitude to supervisors Peyman Pourafshary, Masoud Riazi, Randy Doyle Hazlett, and Riyaz Kharrat, as well as to colleagues and the NU community for their support.
