Key and functional tasks of the School:

  • Planning, organization and realization of academic activities
  • Establishing and developing partnerships with leading national and international universities, research and scientific centers, etc.
  • Participating in negotiations and drafting of agreements (Memorandums and contracts) with international partners within the limits of the School’s responsibility
  • Assisting in development of the University technological base

Key and functional tasks of the position:

  • development and coordination of the School’s nomenclature, record keeping;
  • formation of folders in accordance with the approved nomenclature, ensuring their safety and delivery to the archive within the established time limits;
  • receiving and checking incoming and outgoing documents and  correspondence for the Dean of the School, drafting documents, their qualitative editing, and, in accordance with the Dean’s decision delivery to the executors for work or preparing answers;
  • organization and coordination of meetings of the School’s Management;
  • organization of meetings, councils and other meetings held by the School’s Management (collection of necessary materials, notification of participants about the time and place, agenda, registration);
  • organization of business trips of the School’s Management;
  • keeping correspondence in the range of functional duties;
  • timely and qualitative execution of other assignments of the Dean and the Executive Director of the School, as well as the management of the University;
  • monitoring and updating of information on the School website.

Business trips: Possible

Education: Higher professional education, applicants with technical and engineering specialties and  higher educational institutions with English teaching language are preferable.

Desired professional experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year experience in the areas corresponding to functional duties of a position in the international and /or national companies ; or in “Nazarbayev University ”
  • In case of finishing higher education institution with English language program, work experience is not required

– Work experience with people from diverse cultural background
– Developed oral and written communication skills
– Ability to take responsibility for actions and decisions

Proficiency in languages, including state language:
Good oral and written command of English, Russian, Kazakh is required;

Computer skills: Computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office package;

The School of Mining and Geosciences (SMG) at the Nazarbayev University invites applications for faculty members at all levels. The successful candidate must have a PhD degree within Mining/Petroleum Engineering or a closely related discipline with a proven research track record and teaching experience commensurate with appointment rank.
Applications for Mining Engineering are encouraged from candidates with backgrounds and interests in mining including but not limited to, mining methods, mine design, mine ventilation, drilling and blasting, mine management and sustainability and other related fields.
Applications for Petroleum Engineering are encouraged from candidates with backgrounds and interests in petroleum engineering including but not limited to, reservoir expertise (engineering and simulation), completions, drilling, production and operations and other related fields.
Excellentcommunication skills and English fluency are required.
