SMG students won in MineTech University competition twice in a row!

The 10th MINEX Kazakhstan Mining and Exploration Forum was held in Nur-Sultan city. The theme of this year’s forum was ‘Opening up new frontiers’ which reflects the exciting potentials emerging in mining. The theme of the forum also offered a great opportunity to address key trends in the development of mining and exploration projects in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

More than 450 executives from 16 countries, representing mining and metallurgical companies, ministries, geological committees, investment companies, banks, stock exchanges, service companies and mining equipment manufacturers participated in the forum.

As part of the forum, there were two competitions, in one of which SMG student Yerkezhan Madenova and other students took part. Her presentation on "An integrated web-based automated open stope design tool" won her a Gold Prize. Yerkezhan says that forums of this kind are useful in terms of networking, receiving feedback from the jury and learning from other participants.
