NU SMG on the 56th U.S. Rock Mechanics/ Geomechanics Symposium

Fidelis Suorineni, NU SMG Professor and Zarina Mukhamedyarova, 3rd year Ph.D. student in Mining Engineering attended 56th U.S. Rock Mechanics / Geomechanics Symposium in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, on 26-29 June 2022, which was organized by the American Rock Mechanics Association. The American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA) is a professional and international engineering and scientific society, which promotes interaction among specialists, practitioners, scholars, and educators in rock mechanics and geomechanics. This year the technical program of the Simposium had been focused on advances and innovative applied research in rock mechanics and geomechanics.

Professor Fidelis Suorineni presented his work “The Qualitative Stability Graph for Open Stope Design – Recent Developments”.

Zarina Mukhamedyarova presented her work entitled “Strategy towards accurate location of seismic event sources in mining environment: the effect of voids and backfills” conducted under the supervision of Professor Fidelis Suorineni.

The conference materials will be published in the technical proceedings.
