NU SMG PhD students participated in ISMSSE 2021

Nazarbayev University School of Mining and Geosciences 3rd year PhD student Zarina Mukhamedyarova participated in the Fifth International Symposium on Mine Safety Science and Engineering (ISMSSE 2021), that is hosted by Central Mining Institute in Katowice, Poland on 21-25 November 2021. Zarina Mukhamedyarova is supervised by NU SMG Professor Fidelis Suorineni, and at ISMSSE 2021 she presented the following papers that received high praise from the symposium organizers:

  1. Impact of mining induced continuous rock mass degradation on seismic wave velocity.
  2. Monitoring of backfill strength mobilization with time.

ISMSSE 2021 connects the global mining community to share and explore current challenges and opportunities in the mining industry to contribute to the development of mine safety science and engineering. Scientists and professionals from all over the world gather to discuss new ideas and solutions and to share new achievements that improve safety in the mining industry.
