We are happy to announce that one of our recent NU SMG MSc Mining Engineering graduate received a full scholarship for PhD study in one of the top Mining Schools in the world. The graduate of the class of 2021, Sultan Abulkhair has received a full scholarship at the University of Adelaide, Australia. The funding will be provided by ARC Training Centre for the Integrated Operations for Complex Resources in the University of Adelaide. The University of Adelaide is a leading research university ranked 7th in the Shanghai ranking in the subcategory of Mining Engineering and ranked in the top 100 in the world by QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 for 15 academic subjects including Mining Engineering.
During the study at Nazarbayev University Sultan worked in the area of Geostatistics and Mine Planning under supervision of Dr. Nasser Madani and Dr. Nelson Morales. Being a research assistant of Dr. Madani during his master's study, he published two peer-reviewed journal papers and presented two papers in the major international conferences in the field of Mining Engineering (APCOM and GEOSTAT). At the University of Adelaide Sultan is going to work on the area of Geostatistics and Geometallurgy for his PhD thesis under the supervision of Dr. Peter Dowd.
