Geostatistics: a Tool for Modeling and Interpreting Environmental Phenomena

Geostatistics allows one to interpret the spatial and temporal variations of natural phenomena in a probabilistic language. This technique integrates statistics and mathematical formalisms with geology to model natural phenomena. In this talk, the current trend and future challenges of this young branch of science will be discussed.

About the speaker

Dr. Nasser Madani is an Associate Professor at NU SMG, where he teaches and conducts research on Geostatistics and Mineral Resource Estimation. Dr. Madani is especially interested in developing and accelerating geostatistical algorithms via programming in mathematical scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python. His research interests are Geostatistics, Data Analysis, and Machine Learning.
