Join Us for an Insightful Lecture on Carbonate Reservoirs by Jeff Lonnee
The School of Mining and Geosciences is thrilled to host a guest lecture by Jeff Lonnee, a distinguished Geoscience Team Lead from the North Caspian Operating Company, N.V. This event presents a unique opportunity for students and faculty alike to gain in-depth knowledge from a leading expert in the field.
Title: Carbonate Reservoirs for Petroleum Geologists (and Engineers)
Date: November 20
Time: 16:00 - 17:00
Location: Room 6.105
About the Speaker: Jeff Lonnee, currently leading the geoscience team for the Kashagan development, has been a vital part of Shell International Exploration & Production in Houston, USA, since 2019. His rich experience includes roles such as Senior Geologist at Qatar Shell GTL Ltd and as a Carbonate Geologist at Shell International. He holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Alberta and has extensive expertise in Paleozoic carbonate sedimentology, diagenesis, reservoir characterization, and inorganic geochemistry.
Summary:
Explore the significance of carbonate reservoirs, which contain roughly 60% of the world’s hydrocarbon reserves.
Understand the challenges in exploring and developing carbonate reservoirs.
Learn about various reservoir types, depositional systems, and diagenetic environments.
Gain insights into the unique aspects of reservoir characterization in carbonate reservoirs compared to siliciclastic systems.
This lecture is particularly valuable for students and professionals in geology, petroleum engineering, and related fields. It offers a comprehensive overview of the main challenges and methodologies involved in the exploration and development of carbonate reservoirs.
We look forward to welcoming you to an enlightening session with Jeff Lonnee!
