About Prof. Turgay Ertekin:
Prof. Turgay Ertekin is a revered figure in the field of petroleum and natural gas engineering, boasting a distinguished career spanning over four decades. As a Professor Emeritus and the George E. Trimble Emeritus Chair of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University, Prof. Ertekin has significantly contributed to the development and application of mathematical models for fluid flow in porous media.
His work encompasses a vast array of areas, including the flow of gases in tight formations, coal seam degasification, well test analysis for composite reservoirs, enhanced oil recovery techniques, and the pioneering use of artificial neural networks in engineering applications. Prof. Ertekin has also been instrumental in developing advanced multiphase, compositional, and thermal recovery models that are crucial for the industry.
With over 350 lectures and seminars globally, more than 300 publications, and having directed numerous graduate theses, Prof. Ertekin's influence on the industry and academia is profound. His accolades include prestigious awards from the Society of Petroleum Engineers, recognition by the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and numerous teaching and research awards from Penn State University.
