Nazarbayev University School of Mining and Geosciences (the School) has participated in the 28th International Symposium on Mine Planning and Equipment Selection 2019. The symposium was held in Perth, Australia that started on the 2nd of December 2019 and lasted until the 4th of December 2019. The Dean of the School Dr. Fidelis Suorineni has delivered the Welcome Address to the Delegates on behalf of the International Organizing Committee. This is a significant recognition for the School.
The conference was attended by 3 SMG faculty members, 2 MSc Mining Engineering students and 1 PHD mining engineering candidate. The students co-authored papers with their supervisors which they presented at the conference introducing Nazarbayev University and the School's research capabilities. It was an excellent opportunity for our students to network with mining experts and to present their research outcomes as the optimal practice in geostatistics and mine ventilation. The event featured local and international committee members, professionals in mining, with some of the finest industry and academia representatives, exhibitions and research papers.
