Expert Talk Invitation

Speaker: Dr. Rikke Weibel
Location: C3, Room 1009
Date & Time: 23 April, 17:00-18:00
Topic: CO2 Storage Potential in Denmark Offshore and Onshore – Implications to Kazakhstan Reservoirs
We are delighted to invite you to an insightful presentation by Dr. Rikke Weibel, a distinguished Senior Researcher from the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS). With extensive experience in siliciclastic diagenesis and a focus on Mesozoic and Cenozoic sediments, Dr. Weibel is an authority in the field of geology.
Presentation Overview:
Dr. Weibel will discuss the implications of CO2 storage potentials in Danish offshore and onshore sites and their relevance to Kazakhstan’s reservoirs. The talk will encompass various aspects of geological storage of CO2, including the integrity of reservoir and sealing rocks, as examined in laboratory conditions and through pilot projects like Project Greensand.
About Dr. Rikke Weibel:
Graduating with a PhD in clastic diagenesis from Aarhus University in 1999, Dr. Weibel has contributed significantly to our understanding of glauconitic sandstones and their applicability for CO2 storage. Her work has implications for environmental strategies and aligns with Denmark’s goals under the Danish Climate Act. Her studies include Mesozoic (Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous) and Cenozoic (Palaeogene) sediments from onshore and offshore deep wells in the Danmark, besides Greenlandic outcrops and shallow wells. Most recently, she has been working with glauconitic sandstones with the purpose of investigating their applicability for CO2 storage.
