Joint workshop titled "Introduction to the theory and practice of geostatistical modelling with the PluriGaussian and Multiple-Point Statistics techniques" between Nazarbayev University School of Mining and Geosciences and University of Neuchâtel has been successfully accomplished between June 17th-20th, 2019 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. In this workshop, two important geostatistical approaches of facies modeling (plurigaussian simulation and multiple-point statistics) were discussed by Dr. Nasser Madani, Prof. Philippe Renard and Dr. Julien Straubhaar and hands-on practical case studies were implemented by corresponding softwares for each methodology. These two geostatistical techniques can be applied to model geological heterogeneity and in particular the spatial distribution of categorical variables such as rock types or lithofacies.
Professionals and students attended the 4-day workshop from different countries including Kazakhstan, Switzerland, France, South Africa and Malaysia.
