About Dr. Kamal Regmi:

Dr. Regmi holds a Ph.D. in Geology from Monash University, Melbourne (2012), and an MSc in Exploration Geology from SPMI, St. Petersburg, Russia (1995). His research interests primarily lie in the study of magmatic rocks, with a particular focus on arc magmatism and granite petrology/inorganic geochemistry. Dr. Regmi specializes in single-crystal dating, magma mixing/mingling, enclave petrology, and Lu-Hf isotope analysis in zircon, alongside cosmogenic isotopes.

With an extensive background as an exploration geologist/geochemist, Dr. Regmi brings invaluable experience from working in diverse geological settings, including the thrust and fold belt of the Himalayas, LFB Australia, volcanic rocks of Fiji, and Damaraland of Namibia.

Seminar Focus:

Dr. Regmi will delve into his vast interest in magmatic rocks, highlighting his research on the magma mixing/mingling origin of granitoids from Lachlan Orogen, Australia, and volcanic rocks from Rakiraki, Fiji. The seminar promises to offer deep insights into the complexities of inorganic geochemistry, the intricacies of single-crystal dating, magma mixing and mingling processes, enclave petrology, and cutting-edge Lu-Hf isotope analysis in zircon.

We look forward to welcoming you to an engaging and educational with Dr. Kamal Regmi at Nazarbayev University School of Mining and Geosciences.
